Favorite Music Resources
- Mudcat Cafe: a good place to find traditional folk music, music discussions, places to purchase folk music, and other information.
- Virtual Filksing: The Virtual Filksing is sponsored by Prometheus Music, an online music store featuring semi-professional and amateur recordings of parodies and original music featuring science fiction and fantasy themes. The term "filk" comes from an article which was discussing the folk process (the tendency of folk music to change according to local and personal taste/memory/rendition). The word "folk" was printed as "filk" and the name stuck. Prometheus Music is an excellent source for non-mainstream recordings.
- Random Factors is another online filk-music store.
It primarily markets recordings by Leslie Fish, a well-known Filksinger/composer, but also markets recordings by others as well.
- For those of you who want more than the above sites provide, the Filker's Bardic Ring will provide additional resources.
